The German car builder BMW will be bringing a 21st century green super car to the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The Bavarian automaker’s chief executive Klaus Draeger announced that the company is now focusing on the idea of sustainability with their automobiles. The green speed machine will first be unveiled as a concept inspired by the M1 Hommage that was built last year to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the original BMW super car.

With the new environmentally conscious automobile, BMW will showcase the latest in their Efficient Dynamics technologies. However the luxury car builder wants to prove that sustainability is not only reserved to the power train enhancements, but also to the entire design and materials selected. BMW hopes to trim the fat for all aspects of the automobile manufacturing process and significantly reduce the automaker’s carbon footprint well beyond redicing emissions and improving fuel economy in their vehicles.
